Ballistic Systems
Ballistic Vests
Also known as a bulletproof vest, ballistic vest, or ballistic armor, this is a type of armor designed to protect the body and help absorb and reduce or stop the impact effects of attacks from firearms. Vests may be soft, providing protection against knife attacks or light ammunition and worn by many police officers, prison guards, security personnel, and some civilians. Alternatively, they may be hard, incorporating metallic or para-aramid materials, and are typically worn by soldiers and police tactical units to protect against rifle rounds or shrapnel. Hard armor can be worn alone or in conjunction with soft armor.
Ballistic Plate
A ballistic plate, also known as an armor plate, is a protective armor plate inserted into a helmet or bulletproof vest. This plate can be used alone or in conjunction with other armor. “Hard armor” generally refers to armor using ballistic plates. These plates are used to counter higher threats and can be considered one type of additional armor (application armor). They are typically placed in the front and back areas, and sometimes on the sides. Plates are also available for other regions such as the shoulders, waist, and neck.
